July 12 at his home in Stoyestown from heart failure. He was born in Germany, July 26, 1844, but spent the greater part of his life in Somerset County, having come with his parents to this country at an early age. He first settled on the site of what is now the large mining town of Windber, where he followed the tanner's trade. In the spring of 1890 he located on a farm about 1 1/2 mile west of Stoyestown, where he lived and reared his 11 children. Later he sold his farm and moved to Stoyestown, where he had lived a retired life since 1904. Mr. Straub was well known and respected and many mourn his loss. Mrs. Straub survives with these children: A. H. Straub and Mrs. Emma Bantly of Scalp Level; Mrs. G. L. Dobson and Mrs. Thomas Stakem of Stoyestown; Mrs. J. G. Kocher, Chas. Strauf (Straub?) and Jacob Straub of Johnstown; H. W. Straub of Cleveland; Dr. Theodore Straub of Somerset; G. L. Straub of Welch, W. Va., and R. S. Straub of Boswell. The funeral was held at Stoyestown from the Lutheran Church Friday at 10 a. m. Interment in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Commercial, July 20, 1916
