Strittmatter, 90, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Chest Springs, died April 29, 1989, at the manor. He was born April 20, 1899, in Hastings, son of late Aloysius and Rosalia (Helfrich) Strittmatter. He was preceded in death by brothers, Rudolph, Modestus, Leo and Hilary, and sister, Marie Dillon. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He had attended St. Francis Prep School, Loretto. A 1925 graduate of St. Francis College. Also attended St. Francis Seminary. Was ordained in 1929 in Altoona by the Rev. Bishop John J. McCort. Former assistant pastor and administrator of St. Francis Zavier Catholic Church, Cresson. Former pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, West Salisbury, and St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson. Pastor emeritus of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs. Friends received at Donald J. Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville. Transferral of Father Strittmatter was helad at 3 p.m. Sunday to St. Monica Church. Pontifical Concelebrated Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Bishop Joseph V. Adamec principal celebrant, the Rev. Msgr. Francis Ackerman, homilist and the Rev. Msgr. Roy F. Kline, master of ceremonies. Interment, Priest Plot, St. Monica Cemetery.
