Born Nov. 12, 1915 in Somerset. Son of George William and Frannie (Leavens), Thompson Sr. Preceded death by parents, brother Reginald Thompson, three sisters, Marye Oliver, Gladys Prestwidge and Evelyn Stewart. Survived by wife, the former Roberta Byrd, a daughter Ms. Delores Thompson of Somerset, a granddaughter, Mrs. Georgette C. Poindexter of Lafayette Hill, and a great-grandson, Colin Poindexter. Brother of Hazel T. Barrett of Baltimore, Md. Member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church. A 1935 graduate of Somerset High School. Owner and operator of Thompson's Salvage Yard of Somerset for 67 years. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Dr. J. Mark Zimmerman officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
