  TIPTON
  
  James Russell Tipton, 85, Somerset, died April 1, 1994, at Somerset
  Hospital.  Born Oct. 28, 1908, in Salisbury.  Son of the late Jacob Howard
  and Mary (Sauter) Tipton.  Preceded in death by his wife, the former
  Cordilla Ethel Shockey, who died March 29, 1990; one son, Charles R.
  Tipton; two brothers, Howard and Charles Tipton; sister, Miriam Callahan.
  Survived by these children: Jacob H. Tipton, married to the former Gloria
  Vought, Sagamore Hills, Ohio; Mrs. Donald L. (Thelma) Ritenour, Somerset RD
  6; Harold E. Tipton, married to the former Shirley Lohr, Ravenna, Ohio; Mrs.
  Frank (Edith) Morgan, Somerset RD 2; Mrs. Ronald (Emma) Stanfield, Atwater,
  Ohio; Mrs. Gary (Lois) Johns, Greencastle; Miss Barbara Ann Tipton, Le
  Canto, Fla.; Mrs. Clifford (Grace) Thiel, Somerset RD 2, and
  daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pauline Schaller Tipton, Johnstown.  Also 30
  grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.  Owner of the former Tipton's
  Garage of Somerset.  Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
  Member of Somerset Kiwanis Club; Lodge 438, Odd Fellows of America, and
  lndependent Garage Owners Association of America.  He was instrumental in
  founding the Somerset Chapter of Pennsylvania Association for Retarded
  Citizens.  Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
  p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home.  Service will be held at 11
  a.m. Monday at Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dwight A. Huseman
  officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.  Viewing at the church
  from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Contributions may be made to Key
  Training Center, RD 1, Le Canto, Fla. 32661.
