Born July 31, 1935, in Bittinger, Md., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Broadwater) Brenneman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Donald R. Hershberger and an infant sister, Betty Ruth. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, James A. Wagner; two daughters: Ellen Housley and husband, Sam, Accident; Ann McLister, Frederick, Md.; a stepdaughter, Sheila Filsinger and husband, Robert, Oakland, Md.; five stepsons: Ronald Wagner and wife, Connie; and David Wagner and wife, Joy, all of Accident; William Wagner and wife, Sue, Markleysburg; Jimmy Wagner and wife, Nadia, Hilton Head, S.C. and Todd Wagner and wife, Jessica, McHenry, Md.; five grandchildren: Michelle Geis, Brent Housley, Natalie, Colleen and Paul McLister; eight step grandchildren: Tammy Burdock, Jeff and Brandy Wagner, Tammy Groves, Sherry Hess, Amy Friend, Sam Wagner and Halei Filsinger and nine step great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wagner was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bittinger, Md., where she served as a member of the church council, Sunday School teacher and WELCA. She was an insurance agent from 1952-2004 and was the former owner and operator of Hershberger Insurance Agency, Grantsville, Md. She was a member of P.I.A. and Independent Insurance Agents of America. Margaret was a member of the first graduating class from Northern High School and in 1951, served as Garrett County Farm Queen. She was the first female member of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce and also served on the board of directors for Hospice of Garrett County. As her final gift, Margaret was an eye donor. Margaret had a passion for visiting with family and friends, documenting family history and preserving the family farm, \'93Hardstruggle Homestead\'94. She enjoyed attending sporting events, archiving, photography and cross country skiing. Margaret never met a stranger. A special thanks and recognition is given to close personal friend and physician, Dr. Scott Watkins, Dr. Andrew Heiskell and assistant, Carla; Dr. Larry Beall; Steve Gnegy, P.A. and the 6th floor oncology nurses at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown as well as Sue Teagarden, Hospice nurse and Mary Bennett, Hospice aide. Friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville. At the request of the family, there was no viewing on Sunday. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Mitchell and the Rev. William Dawson officiating. Friends could call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment was in Bittinger Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis Buckel, Gary Buckel, Lou Detrick, Chris Bartlett, Rick Bartlett and Hap Bauer.
