All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ CHARLES WEIMER Charles Weimer Fatally Injured By Fall of Coal Charles Weimer, aged 25, of Meyersdale R.D. 3, died in the Community Hospital, Somerset, on Monday morning, Jan. 21, as a result of injuries sustained in a coal fall in the Blue Lick mine of the Enterprise Coal Company of Garrett. Mr. Weimer was working alone in a small mine room, loading coal at the time of the accident, about 1:30 last Saturday afternoon. A large piece of coal dislodged from the mine roof and fell, striking him on the head. He had been employed by the coal company since last October. Deputy Coroner C. T. Saylor, of Rockwood, after investigation attributed Weimer's death to a fracture of the base of the skull and laceration of the brain, due to a mine accident. Surviving are his wife, Anna Mary (Neimiller) Weimer, and a 3-year-old daughter, Judy Lee, of Meyersdale R.D. 3. Also surviving are his step-father and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey M. Brown, Salisbury, and the following brothers and sisters: John H. Weimer, Somerset R.D. 2; Mrs. Bowman Graham, Jenners; Christopher Weimer, Acosta; Mrs. Simon Short, Salisbury; Harry Weimer, Avilton, Md.; Mrs. Charles Geisweidt, Jennings; a half brother, Harvey Brown, at home, and five step-brothers and four step-sisters. He was born in Salisbury, Sept. 4, 1920, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Weimer. Brief services were held at the home of Norman Neimiller, Keystone St., father of Mrs. Weimer, at 1:30 this (Thursday) afternoon, followed by services in the Lutheran Church, Salisbury, in charge of Rev. George E. Bowersox, pastor, assisted by Rev. Nelson C. Brown. Interment was made in Union Cemetery, in charge of H. R. Konhaus. Meyersdale Republican, January 24, 1946
