All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ OZIAS WEIMER Ozias Weimer, one of Somerset County's oldest citizens, died Monday, July 14th, at 6 o'clock a.m., at the family home in Greenville Township, where he was born October 20th, 1847, and was aged at the time of his death 93 years, 8 months and 24 days. August 15, 1872, Ozias Weimer was united in the bonds of holy matrimony with Elizabeth Rose Breig, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Breig, then residents of Salisbury, but later having removed to Meyers Mills, now Meyersdale, both of whom passed away many years ago. To this union were born eight sons and six daughters, of whom the following survive: Edward Weimer, Avilton, Md.; George Weimer, Frostburg, Md.; James Weimer, Mt. Savage, Md.; Alpheus Weimer and Mrs. Eugene Althoff, Gettysburg; Mrs. Leo Althoff, York; John and Lawrence Weimer, at home; Mrs. Alvin Garlitz, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Thomas McKenzie, Avilton, Md., and Sister Mary Veronica, Philadelphia, Mrs. Joseph Merchbaher, Birmingham, Alabama, Samuel and Bernard Weimer preceded their parents in death. Also surviving are 66 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in St. Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury, this (Thursday) morning at 10:30 o'clock, the Rev. Father Joseph Tomko, assisted by the Rev. Father Howard T. Miller, officiating. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, West Salisbury, under the direction of R. Reich & Son, local morticians. Meyersdale Republican, July 17, 1941
