Weller, 53, of Berlin, who died in the Windber Hospital Thursday night, Nov. 12, 1942, was held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at his home with the Rev. Robert Naugle of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. N. V. Leatherman, pastor of the Brethren Church of Berlin. Burial was in the Odd Fellow's Cemetery with a military service by Harry Fisher Post 445, American Legion. He was ill only two weeks. Mr. Weller was a master baker by trade, people coming from miles away for his products. He learned the trade prior to his entry into the World War and studied artistic baking while in France with the American forces. Following the war he returned to America and established a business in Berlin, 20 years ago. Mr. Weller's ability as a baker was known throughout western Pennsylvania and many sections of Maryland. Mr. Weller also took a keen interest in church and civic affairs. He was a frequent contributor to charitable institutions and much of his surplus baked goods found their way into homes of needy and institutions in the county. A son of William and Hanner (Hinemeyer) Weller, he was born in Somerset County March 25, 1889. During World War I Mr. Weller enlisted at Fort Douglas, Utah, May 7, 1917. He saw service along the Mexican border and later in France, where he was attached to headquarters detachment. He received his honorable discharge from the army at Camp Dix, N.J., in August, 1919. Surviving are his aged mother, Mrs. Minnie Weller, 91, who resides at the home of her son here; his wife, Mrs. Josephine (Brant) Weller; a daughter Josephine Weller, at home, and a brother, Harry Weller, Youngstown, O. The deceased was a member of the Harry Fisher Post No. 445, American Legion of Berlin. Meyersdale Republican, November 19, 1942
