Born Aug. 28, 1907, in Casselman, the son of the late John N. and Ida (Metzler) Whipkey. Also preceded in death by a brother, Rolston, and a sister, Hazel F. Cooper. Survived by his wife, the former Catherine Koontz, and two sons: Randall L., married to the former Linda Miller of Columbia, Md.; and Richard L., married to the former Rebecca Zimmerman of Somerset RD 2; also five grandchildren. Member of the First United Methodist Church, disabled American veteran of World War II, having served in the 9th Division of U.S. Army Air Force in Africa, the Middle East and the European Theatre. Friends received from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Arthur Gotjen officiating.
