  WHITFIELD
  
    Walter W. "Doc" Whitfield, 82, Jennerstown, formerly of Johnstown
  RD 3, died Dec. 30, 1987 in Somerset Community Hospital.  Born July
  20, 1905 in Breezewood, a son of William and Anna (Clark)
  Whitfield.  Preceded in death by parents, brothers Roy and Rossell
  and sister Irene.  Survived by wife, the former Frances (Adams)
  Henry; two daughters, Lucille Becony, Boswell; and Bernice, wife of
  Michael Wojnarowski, Erie; two step-daughters:  Lorraine, wife of
  Charles Glessner, Jennerstown; and Betty, wife of Russell Kupfner,
  Colorado Springs, Colo.; 19 grandchildren and 17
  great-grandchildren.  A brother of Elizabeth Emge, Baltimore, Md.  A
  member of the First Lutheran Church of Johnstown and Edgewood Aerie
  1801 F.O.E. Somerset.  Retired in 1970 as a millwright at Bethlehem
  Steel Corporation.  Would have observed 40th wedding anniversary on
  June 18, 1988.  Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9
  p.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell,
  where service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Nelson
  F. Ilgensritz officiating.  Interment Somerset County Memorial
  Park.  Memorial contributions to the Lung Association would be
  appreciated.
