Zook, farmer, of Route 1, Meyersdale, died at his home near Shaw Mines, at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, of cerebral hemorrhage, following an illness of about three weeks. He was born in Mifflin County, Pa., September 26, 1879, son of Menno and Magdalena (Peachy) Zook, and was aged 67 years, 4 months and 21 days at his death. Mr. Zook was twice wed, first to Susan Yoder, who died on January 21, 1923. To this marriage were born two sons and four daughters, all surviving, namely: John Zook, Meyersdale; Menno Zook, Elverson; Mrs. Annie Peachey, Allenville; Lydia Zook, Lewistown; Mrs. Ray Kinsinger, Springs, Pa., and Mrs. Rufus Slabach, Grantsville, Md. He remarried on March 13, 1924, to Annie Bender, who survives together with three children, Elizabeth, Joseph and Elmer Zook, all at home. Also surviving are two brothers; Moses P. Zook, Belleville, and Israel Zook, Intercourse, Pa., and three sisters - Mrs. Lydia Yoder and Mrs. Sarah Swaney, Allenville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bowel of Belleville, Pa.; and 14 grandchildren and one step-grandson. Mr. Zook was a member of the Summit Mills Amish Mennonite Church, where funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, with Rev. Lewis Beachy and Rev. Bennie Fisher officiating. Interment in the church cemetery, in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, February 20, 1947
