The cemetery that is beside the church belongs to the church. The cemetery across Rte. 844 is the West Middletown Community Cemetery and is not associated with the church. According to Boyd Crumrine's "History of Washington County, Pennsylvania with Biographical Sketches of Many of Its Pioneers and Prominent Men" (Philadelphia: L. H. Leverts & Co., 1882), the old minutes of this congregation have not been preserved, so that it is difficult to know the date of its organization. From the best information it was about 1810. The cemetery must date from the same time as the DAR data shows the first internment as 1810. The DAR report says that two Confederate soldiers who died at the Prison Camp near Claysville are buried in this cemetery as are three emigrants who took ill and died on their trek west to the Ohio Territory with many old stones unreadable. According to historical records, the church and associated cemetery were also referred to as the United Presbyterian Congregation of West Middletown Allen, Martha, 08 May 1837, Grove United Presbyterian, West Middletown, Hopewell Township, (contributed by Bill Plack) Paxton, Margaret, consort of Nathaniel, d. 18 Jun 1840, aged 58Y, Grove United Presbyterian Cemetery, West Middleton, Hopewell Township, (contributed by Bill Plack) Wilson, Esther, 07 Dec 1829, Grove United Presbyterian, West Middletown, Hopewell Township, (contributed by Bill Plack)
