Latrobe Bulletin Mon, Dec 19, 1977
George Gaither Casteel, 71, of Pleasant Unity died Monday morning in Latrobe
Area Hospital. Born June 30, 1906, in Bedford County, he was a son of the late
John A. and Della Ann Barthlow Casteel. He was a member of the United Mine
Workers of America, Loyal Order Of Moose 95 of Latrobe and the Sportsmen Club of
Southwest. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Marshall,
Emory and Mrs. Ora Greece.
Surviving are his widow, Mildred Clark Casteel; one son, Gerald A. of
Bloomsburg, Pa., and three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Donahoe, Mrs. Emma Lambert and
Mrs. Albert (Daisy) Immel, all of Greensburg. Friends will be received in James
P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the
funeral home with the Rev. Charles H. Frederickson officiating. Interment will
follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
