Poole, 70, of New Alexandria passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011. He was born June 12, 1940, in Latrobe, a son of the late Samuel E. and Gilda M. (Sleasman) Poole. Ron was a 1958 graduate of Hurst High School, served four years with the U. S. Air Force, and then was employed by the Latrobe Steel Co. until his retirement in 2002. A member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Unity Township, Ron served as a lector and a member and past president of church council. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 23 in Youngwood, the Mount Pleasant Firemen's Club, American Legion Post 982 in Unity Township and was a life member of the Slovak American Beneficial Sportsmen's Club in Hecla. Ron also sponsored two children through Children International. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel E. Poole Jr. He is survived by his two children, Gayle Poole of Virginia and David Poole and his wife, Michelle, of Illinois; granddaughter, Madison Poole; sister, Peggy Queer and her husband, Jim, of Hunker; nephew, Mark Queer and family, and his devoted companion of 11 years, Mary Louise Peer of Latrobe. Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Military service accorded by the combined funeral detail of Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515 and Paul Lizza VFW Post 3414 will be held 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Unity Township, with his pastor, the Rev. Bill Schaefer, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325 Mission Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
