Mrs. Leona Blanche "Toots" Wilford, 92, of Derry RD 1, died Saturday, Aug. 31,
2002, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born June 7, 1910, in Derry Township, a
daughter of the late Phillip Ford and Viola May (Henderson) Forsha. Toots was a
member of New Derry United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Derry
Township Grange for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, August Wilford, in 1971; a son, Larry F. Wilford, in 1998;
a daughter, Gail Lawson, in 1991; three sisters, Hazel Roman, Clara Locke and
Minnie Kelly, and three brothers, Glenn "Dutch," James and Clair Forsha.
Toots is survived by two sons, Floyd A. Wilford and his wife Sandy, of Ligonier,
and Richard L. Wilford and his wife, Erika, of Pittsburgh; a son-in-law Emory
Lawson of Latrobe; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Wilford of Blairsville; 10
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Garnet R. Demangone of Derry,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Michael J.
Quinlisk Funeral Home Inc. “A Life Celebration Home”, 548 N. Chestnut St..
Derry, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William
Weppelman and the Rev. Raymond Kerr co-officiating. Interment will follow in
Coles Cemetery, Derry Township.
