NOEDEL, of the firm of Noedel & Co., bottlers, is a native of Germany, born in 1822, son of Simon and Eliza (Brandan) Noedel, and is of German descent. His parents were both natives of Germany, and lived there until they died; the father in 1835, and the mother in 1836. Our subject was educated at the Latin schools in Germany. In 1848 he engaged in general merchandising, and in that continued until 1854. After the Revolution he emigrated to America, and settled in Baltimore, Md., where he resided twenty-three years, and was engaged in the wholesale wine and liquor business. In 1874 he removed to York County, Penn., and settled on a farm five miles from York, and here he resided until 1877 when he came to York, his present place of residence. On coming to York he began his present business, in which he is very successful. Mr. Noedel was married, in 1853, to Miss Bertha V. Gumpel, a native of Germany. They have one son – Theodore W. Mr. Noedel is a Republican and a man of a public enterprising spirit. He resides in comfort at Cottage Place.
